RETAIL SALES OF CBD IN FOOD & SUPPLEMENTS LAW PASSES CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY

California-Bill-228-CBD

A few days ago, the California State Assembly took a significant step forward passing a bill allowing retail sales of CBD in food and supplements.

The vote was 76-0. 🎉

Since our CBD business is based in California, I thought it was appropriate to comment on this news.

Even though I believe most of what California does is insane, this is a step I welcome with open arms.

This is one of those ‘duh’ moments because, what else was supposed to happen?

Cannabis is on a train that has left the station, it’s headed towards LEGALTOWN, and it ain’t comin’ back. 🚂

(I secretly like it when I can throw in some slang or grammatical errors on purpose)

The Facts Before This Ruling

California was one of the first states to legalize medical marijuana.

The state was also one of the first to legalize recreational marijuana as well.

Before this ruling, to legally sell CBD in California, it had to be sold at a licensed dispensary.

For a CBD product to even be on the shelf at a dispensary, it had to come from a licensed distributor.

Furthermore, a licensed distributor can only buy products that have been tested from a licensed independent 3rd party laboratory.

For a licensed laboratory to even test your products, there are rules in place as to where the hemp or marijuana has come from… namely a licensed grow.

This framework is really meant for marijuana derived THC products, not hemp-derived CBD products.

But since they were both part of the cannabis family, they were treated the same.

Why The Retail Sales Of CBD In Food Law Needed To Be Changed

With both the 2014 Farm Bill and the 2018 Farm Bill passing, the floodgates for hemp-derived CBD were wide open.

As you have seen, CBD is everywhere.

We are specifically talking about hemp-derived CBD with less than .3% THC.

Remember, THC gets you high, CBD gets you healthy. 💯

With the floodgates wide open, many companies, including ourselves, got into the CBD game and started selling it.

That included online and at specialty shops that weren’t dispensaries.

So if the CA law says that CBD can only be sold at dispensaries, yet it’s being sold everywhere else, what is the California government to do?

And in the big picture of what’s going on in society and the world today, the state doesn’t have the manpower or resources to be cracking down on legitimate CBD businesses.

This ruling was absolutely inevitable.

I’m just wondering why it took so long to make this decision.

What Does This Really Mean?

In a nutshell, this is the start to making things so much easier for all legit CBD brands, including ourselves.

The more states and the government get on the same page and remove the restrictions, the better for everyone.

In the CBD space, we have a significant number of challenges to deal with that most businesses don’t.

For instance, credit card processing is a nightmare, which is something we are literally dealing with at this exact moment.

Getting simple things like a bank account is not that easy.

In fact, it’s still illegal at most national banks.

You can forget about getting loans or lines of credit for CBD businesses.

For awhile, you technically couldn’t travel across state lines, or via airplane, with your CBD.

The list goes on…

CBD And Retail Stores

Where you will see the biggest change is with retail stores.

You’re already starting to see glimpses of CBD showing up at retail stores, but once this seal is broken, you will see CBD everywhere.

Every store you will go into, you’ll see the new CBD products lined up for you to buy.

And now since this new law will allow CBD in foods (once again, when it passes), you’re going to see CBD being infused into things you can’t even imagine.

You’ll see CBD infused in water, beer, soda, yogurt, sauces, meats, cheeses… you name it.

If you can think it, chances are they can put CBD in it.

But the biggest benefit is access.

Access to the CBD products that can really potentially help you.

I know of a lot of big name companies that are waiting on the sidelines with their CBD products ready to launch, once everything legalizes everywhere.

Imagine a hot cup of CBD infused Starbucks coffee. ☕️

The Winners Of This Move

Aside from our company, other similar California based CBD companies will be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

No longer will they have to worry about the state health agencies raiding warehouses or seizing products they never should have in the first place.

CBD companies will be able to aggressively get into more brick and mortar stores.

Research companies that are studying CBD will be able to get more data, which will get us more scientific results sooner.

I would also expect more cities to lighten their stances on dispensaries, or at least be open to CBD only retail stores.

Nevertheless, the positives of this move will undoubtedly outweigh any negatives that come with this law going into effect.

Since We’re On The Subject Of CBD

If you haven’t tried CBD before, now is the time.

CBD really works, and it works in ways that you probably can’t imagine.

But only if you have a high-quality CBD.

And getting a high quality CBD product that doesn’t cut corners is not cheap.

Besides, wouldn’t you want something that you put into your body to be the best quality anyways? 🤔

Our hemp-derived CBD is amazing, but that’s just me saying it, and I’m definitely biased.

No shame here with that.

So it’s better if you try it for yourself and find out how awesome it is.
